European Parliament backs resolution to streamline cybersecurity network

Lawmakers in the European Parliament have backed a resolution that would put more money into cybersecurity units and ban products found to be “malicious,� including Russian firm Kaspersky Lab, EURACTIV reports. While the Parliament report is not legally binding, it would ask EU member states “to perform a comprehensive review of software, IT and communications equipment and infrastructure used in the institutions in order to exclude potentially dangerous programmes and devices.� The report also called for the European Commission, European Council and other EU offices to help fight fragmentation by streamlining a cybersecurity and intelligence-sharing network.Full Story
