New project aims to simplify data portability

According to a post on Github, the new Data Transfer Project, which so far has support from Google and Microsoft, aims to streamline and simplify transferring data from one service provider to another. While still a work in progress, the project states it is “working with partners to define the architecture and implementation.� At its core, the project looks to “provide a common framework and ecosystem to accept contributions from service providers to enable seamless transfer of data into and out of their service.� The Data Transfer Project, which is maintained by Google, is an open-source framework and deployed on multiple cloud platforms.Full Story
