Parallel US privacy bills lay groundwork for potential law

In the last week, two federal privacy bills have been proposed in the Senate — one from the Democrats, the other from the Republicans — paving the way for debate and discussion on a potential bipartisan bill. The conversation continues on Capitol Hill Wednesday with a full Commerce Committee hearing to discuss federal privacy legislation (stay tuned for the IAPP’s coverage of the hearing in Thursday’s Daily Dashboard).
