California-based Solara Medical Supplies is facing a class-action lawsuit following a breach that impacted approximately 114,000 patients, HealthITSecurity reports. Several employee email accounts were breached between April 2 and June 20 compromising patients’ information, including names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers. Filed by a patient in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of California, the lawsuit argues the company failed to protect patients’ personal and medical data allowing hackers “to steal everything they could possibly need to commit nearly every conceivable form of identity theft
